Two satellites belonging to America (America) and Russia (Russia) came face to face. Everyone feared that they might almost collide, but they missed by just 20 meters. One satellite is NASA's Thermosphere Ionosphere Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics Mission (TIMED) while the other is the Russian Cosmos 2221 satellite. Of these two, the TIMED satellite is still operational, but the Russian satellite is not. These two satellites weighing 2530 kilograms were at a speed of 50,400 kilometers per hour when they came closest. Scientists say that if these had collided, there would have been a huge destruction, and countless waste debris would have been formed in space.

According to the mass, structure and speed of these spaceships, scientists say that if an accident had occurred, 2000 to 7000 fragments would have been formed. But, fortunately, the accident did not occur as it escaped from some distance. However, scientists say that there is a possibility that they will come closer to each other again.
